Mr. Gwynn's Reading List

So, to keep my students inspired to pick up a book (or 10) this summer, I thought I would keep you up to date on the current texts I have been jumping into. Please feel free to send me an e-mail and tell me what you've been reading, I'm always welcome to suggestions. (tgwynn@cabarrus.k12.nc.us)

Currently Reading:

  • Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott
  • Be The Change: Your Guide to Freeing Slaves and Changing the World by Zach Hunter (He was 15 yrs old when he wrote this.)
Books I Have Completed:
  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (J.K. Rowling)*
  2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (J.K. Rowling)*
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (J.K. Rowling)*
  4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (J.K. Rowling)*
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (J.K. Rowling)*
  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (J.K. Rowling)*
  7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (J.K. Rowling)
  8. Athletic Shorts: Six Short Stories (Chris Crutcher)
Reading back through the entire HP series was pretty great this summer. It was awesome to string all the details together so I could really grasp what would happen to Harry in the end. There's a lot to say about it, but considering that one of my greatest pet peeves is ruining a book for someone, I will leave such conversations to be had face to face with fellow fans. Or you can always shoot me an e-mail if you have finished it, as well!

*I am re-reading the Harry Potter Series, Books 1-6, to get my brain ready for the 7th and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. To put it mildly, I can hardly wait!

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

The best students in the world,

It's official... SUMMERTIME! It has been an incredible year and this class was amazing. I hope you all keep in touch this summer (tgwynn@cabarrus.k12.nc.us). I promise I'll write you back. I'll be taking a cross-country road trip to Colorado with my friends, so I'll post some pictures when I get back. Thanks for an amazing year. Don't stop being compassionate, caring, and loving. I love each of you and wish I could join you at Northwest next year. Don't forget to be the change you want to see in the world (think Rosa Parks, MLK, Jr., and the Children's March). Remember, this is a revolution, we will not leave this world the same.

Much love,
Mr. Gwynn

I tried really hard to find a great summer video to put on here for you guys. It was between this, and Alice Cooper singing 'School's Out' with the Muppets. While, I love Alice Cooper (A fellow Arizonan), I thought you would enjoy this a little more: The #1 Summer Jam from our old buddy, Strongbad...
